I obtained my B.Tech degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, the M.E degree from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and the D.Sc. degree from Washington University in St. Louis. Since 1999, I have been a Member of Technical Staff at Bell Laboratories.

I started my career at Bell Labs in the Networking Techniques Research Department where I worked on overload control for Lucent's UMTS softswitch. I then moved to the Services Infrastructure Research Department, where I build prototypes for advanced telephony services and building blocks for the reference IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) architecture. I was then involved in the networking design of an internal Bell Labs startup venture for endpoint security which has now been commercialized as the Alcatel Lucent OmniAccess 3500 NonStop Laptop Guardian solution. Since the beginning of this year, I have been a member of the newly formed Computer Systems Lab

My current research activity spans two areas: designing novel application connectivity paradigms for weakly connected systems, and virtualization acceleration for endpoint and network devices
